The Investigation Commission is a Staged Performance for the Authorities: MP

According to Tigran Abrahamyan, a member of the National Assembly’s "I Have Honor" faction, the authorities are creating the impression that it is possible to uncover the circumstances surrounding the 44-day war through an investigative commission, while the opposition shows no interest in this matter.

“If the authorities had such will and desire, there were law enforcement agencies, which are the main bodies of the state, that handle investigations,” Abrahamyan said during a meeting with reporters.

He pointed out that there is a crucial circumstance that various representatives of the authorities try to obscure: the issue of objectivity. “It is evident to everyone that the main culprit and responsible party for the disastrous consequences of the war is the government itself, yet this same government forms an investigative commission and says, ‘Let’s determine the degree of our responsibility or guilt.’ When I speak about objectivity, this is exactly what I mean; under these conditions this is merely a performance for the authorities, the main aim of which is to close the chapter of the 44-day war by preemptively designating the guilty parties,” the MP stated.

Abrahamyan mentioned that if the public thinks that under the leadership of Andranik Kocharyan and in the conditions created by this government, it is possible to discuss the circumstances objectively, that is impossible.

It should be noted that today marked the beginning of the first session of the investigative commission of the National Assembly, which will examine the circumstances of the 44-day war, however, the opposition has left the meeting hall. According to the opposition, “the investigative commission on war matters is involved in a staged performance to depict the authorities as ‘innocent.’” The losses on the Armenian side, the political and military reasons for failures, and several other issues will be subjects of inquiry by the investigative commission regarding the 44-day war.
