Aliyev Sets Preconditions for Armenia

During a visit to the temporarily occupied Agdam (Aghdam), Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev stated that he is ready to sign a peace agreement with Armenia if Yerevan recognizes his country's territorial integrity. This was reported by Interfax Azerbaijan.

“Of course, a peace agreement must be signed between Azerbaijan and Armenia. This agreement should be concluded based on the norms and principles of international law, with the condition of mutual recognition of territorial integrity,” he stated.

It is worth noting that Armenian authorities have repeatedly declared their recognition of Azerbaijan's territorial integrity; however, they believe that the issue of Artsakh does not constitute a territorial dispute and should be resolved through negotiations under the auspices of the OSCE Minsk Group.
