Video: Ruben Vardazaryan Reveals That Gagik Jhangiryan Told Him to Resign
The suspended president of the Supreme Judicial Council, Ruben Vardazaryan, announced today that he was advised to resign by the acting president of the Supreme Judicial Council, Gagik Jhangiryan.
“When Mr. Jhangiryan's candidacy was still under discussion and had not yet been elected, I publicly expressed my position and stated that a person who has reached the age of 65 should not be elected as a member of the Supreme Judicial Council. Nevertheless, the National Assembly elected Jhangiryan. Mr. Jhangiryan personally told me that it would be preferable for me to resign so that he could serve as the president of the Supreme Judicial Council,” Vardazaryan declared in the National Assembly.
Today, Vardazaryan also stated that he is not an enemy of the government, has not done anything that would shame him, and simply indicated that he would not allow political decisions to be made through him. This was the reason why he is now a defendant in what he describes as a “fabricated criminal case.”
