Vardan Ghukasian's Son to Remain in Custody

The case of Spartak Ghukasian, son of former Gyumri mayor Vardan Ghukasian, is currently in court. During the preliminary court hearing, his lawyer requested the release of Spartak Ghukasian, a request that was denied by the court, according to News.am.

His attorney, Ruben Hakobyan, stated that Spartak Ghukasian does not accept the charges against him. According to him, the basis for keeping Ghukasian in custody is the assertion that he could obstruct the investigation if he were released.

Spartak Ghukasian is facing charges for allegedly making threats of violence against a government representative. “It is stated that he threatened that police officer over the phone, which is not true; there was no call, and there was no conversation of that nature with the police officer. Regarding that incident, the police officer submitted a report which reflects his subjective reality,” said Ruben Hakobyan.
