The Cases of Traffic Accidents Increased by 13.8% in 2021: Details

Crime rates have increased in 2021 compared to the previous year. Specifically, there were 30,245 registered crimes in 2021, up from 26,468 in 2020, marking a 14.2% increase. Serious crimes rose by 5.8% (an increase of 145), while particularly serious crimes grew by 18.2% (up by 54).

The number of murders increased by 10, rising from 50 to 60, and human trafficking cases rose from 6 to 10. The instances of rape or attempted rape decreased by 11, from 25 to 14.

Traffic violations have also recorded an increase. In 2020, there were 1,360 incidents, which jumped to 1,548 in 2021, resulting in a 13.8% rise. Fatal accidents saw a smaller increase, rising by 10 or 4.3%.

As for corruption-related offenses, these have seen a decrease. In 2020, there were 1,033 registered incidents, while in 2021, only 950 cases were reported. This decrease amounted to 83 incidents or 8%.
