Injured and Left Helpless: One Prisoner of War Has Died

On November 16, soldiers captured by Azerbaijan were subjected to inhumane and degrading treatment, resulting in suffering and being left without medical assistance, leading to the death of prisoner of war Arthur Martirosyan. This was reported to Factinfo by the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia.

“During the preliminary investigation, factual evidence was obtained regarding the torture of soldiers captured on November 16, 2021, the demonstration of inhumane and degrading treatment towards them, deliberately causing serious suffering, leaving an injured soldier in a helpless situation, and failing to provide necessary medical assistance, which resulted in the death of prisoner of war Arthur Jivany Martirosyan. A new criminal case was initiated on December 20, 2021, based on the elements of crimes stipulated in the first part of Article 390 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia, and was joined to the main case,” the Investigative Committee reported.
