‘Hayastan’ and ‘Pativ Unem’ Factions Release Joint Statement

‘Hayastan’ and ‘Pativ Unem’ factions have decided not to participate in the work of the investigative committee established by the authorities.

In a joint statement by the two opposition factions, it is stated: “It is known that the authorities have created an investigative committee regarding the issues of the 44-day war. It should be noted that, in the context of a parliamentary governance system, the establishment of investigative committees by the National Assembly is one of the main tools of the opposition forces. This is substantiated, among other things, by the fact that the authorities cannot objectively examine their own actions. The impossibility of this has been proved by the unified stance taken by the law enforcement bodies that are part of the executive power and act in direct accordance with the directives of the government.

Despite this clear truth, the government, which has publicly declared that it is the “number one culprit” and the “number one responsible” for the catastrophic consequences of the war, is establishing an investigative committee under its leadership.

The Standing Committee on Defense and Security of the National Assembly, under whose chairmanship this investigative committee will operate, is generally devoid of any possibility of being objective, including the impossibility of participation in the case of the committee chairman. It is evident that the investigative committee is to be engaged in staging the authorities' “innocence”. Taking this and a number of other circumstances into account, the opposition ‘Hayastan’ and ‘Pativ Unem’ factions have decided not to participate in the work of the investigative committee established by the authorities.

At the same time, we announce that revealing the culprits behind the disastrous results of the 44-day war remains one of the top priorities for the ‘Hayastan’ and ‘Pativ Unem’ factions.
