Aliyev on the Zangezur Corridor and Their Plans

Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev stated in an interview with one of the Azerbaijani state news agencies that the government intends to launch a new electricity transmission line from Azerbaijan to Nakhchivan via the “Zangezur Corridor.”

According to Aliyev, this line will later extend from the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic to Turkey and Iran.

“The Zangezur Corridor is not only a railway or a roadway; it will also be used for the purpose of exporting energy resources,” Aliyev noted, adding that Azerbaijan has energy connections with all four neighboring countries.

“We are working on this project, and our growing exports will give new weight to our country, increase geopolitical significance, and, in addition, ensure additional foreign currency income,” said the Azerbaijani leader.
