67 Children Hospitalized with Omicron, 5 in Intensive Care: Avanesyan

The infection rate of children with the Omicron variant is high. This information was shared by the Minister of Health of Armenia, Anahit Avanesyan, in an interview with Sputnik Armenia.

She noted that currently, five children are receiving treatment in the intensive care unit. “This year, we have had a similar situation: on one hand, there was an increase in acute respiratory infections, and on the other hand, there was a wave of coronavirus. In addition, the average age of those infected with Omicron has decreased, and children are getting infected with this strain more frequently,” said Avanesyan.

According to her, there are currently 67 children hospitalized with Omicron, and pediatric medical centers in Armenia are operating at intensive capacity. The Minister of Health stated that the bed capacity is sufficient to serve the citizens.
