Tensions Resurface in Sisian as CP Officials Split into Two Camps

The newspaper "Hraparak" writes, "Tensions have once again flared in Sisian as members of the ruling Civil Contract party have split into two camps. The conflict centers around the position of the mayor. Sisian activist Arsen Avagyan, who was one of the initiators of the campaign against the church, is dissatisfied with his status; he has only been given a job in the regulatory body for urban planning, technical, and fire safety.

There are other dissatisfied individuals among the pro-government officials in Sisian who have begun a struggle against the acting mayor, Armen Hakobjanian. He is supported by former Prosperous Armenia party member Karen Hambardzumyan, who later joined the Civil Contract party and has friendly ties with the acting mayor. The acting mayor is also a former member of the Prosperous Armenia party, which has become a major topic of conversation.

The other faction believes they deserve more recognition, claiming they have been more loyal to the authorities, yet have not received positions commensurate with their loyalty. Therefore, they have begun to undermine the current acting mayor and are focusing their efforts on council meetings. Materials are already being prepared in the police department regarding the fact that quorum was not ensured at council meetings, even though the meetings were held."
