Significant Changes Expected in Armenia's Judicial System
The daily newspaper 'Past' reports that for the past 2-3 months, the Ministry of Justice has been intensively working on a major package that envisions changes throughout Armenia's entire judicial system. This may involve radical amendments to several key codes at once.
According to our sources, this initiative is being carried out specifically under the directive of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, aimed at closing loopholes in the laws and codes that contain barriers and 'laziness' and tailoring them to the demands of the government.
Notably, our information indicates that several representatives from well-known NGOs funded by Western sources, along with lawyers who evidently generate pro-government narratives in the political arena, are involved in this working group as a consulting-expert body.
We were also informed that the group's work is expected to be completed before the conclusion of the constitutional amendments commission's work, ensuring that no issues arise with the overall legal regulations leading up to the constitutional referendum.
