Quartet Media Stops Operations
Quartet Media has announced that it is ceasing its operations. This information comes from the founder of Quartet Media, Samvel Farmanyan, via his Facebook page.
In his post, he stated: "Dear viewers of ArmNews, readers of Tert.am, and listeners of ArmNews FM radio, for a long time, we faced a tough decision on how to continue our operations. During this time, we received many political proposals for cooperation which we rejected, as they differed from our principles. We also discussed several offers for sale, but we were unable to find any that would allow us to maintain our adopted policy and remain faithful to our past path. Therefore, we have made a painful but natural decision: Quartet Media is ceasing operations.
Over the past 3.5 years, the team has done its utmost to foresee, report, explain, unveil, and warn about current and anticipated realities. We have highlighted issues and presented facts from the hottest points of political, social, and wartime processes. How professionally, devotedly, and selflessly we have worked is left to the judgment of the public.
Unfortunately, in Armenia, reality and principles have become secondary; predominant are phenomena that have no relation to our beliefs and essence. Moreover, the media as a platform for locating and covering facts has significantly exhausted itself, as there are no unexplained facts and essential circumstances left—everyone knows everything about everyone.
Universal neutrality, public apathy, unjustified passivity of political actors, and the self-serving nature of political struggle leave us without other choices. We are not leaving, but the current and proposed agendas are not ours. Working in this format and with this toolkit is not right for us, so, while our decision is extremely painful, it is honest.
Stay well, goodbye! Respectfully, the founders of Quartet Media," Farmanyan wrote.
