Head of Waste Management Agency and Deputy Admit Guilt, Pay Compensation and Released

The director of Yerevan's community agency for "Yerevan Waste Management and Sanitary Cleaning," Armen Grigoryan, and his deputy, Karen Torosyan, have been released from custody. This information was provided to NEWS.am by the Anti-Corruption Committee.

According to the Anti-Corruption Committee, defendants Armen Grigoryan and Karen Torosyan fully compensated for the damages they caused, exceeding 18 million AMD, and admitted their guilt.

“Under these circumstances, the risk of inappropriate behavior during the investigation has decreased, thus the investigator chose a measure of restraint not involving detention,” stated the Anti-Corruption Committee.

The committee also noted that besides Armen Grigoryan and Karen Torosyan, another individual has also been charged.

It is worth mentioning that Armen Grigoryan has been involved in the criminal case under Article 179, Part 3, Clause 1 of the RA Criminal Code (misappropriation or embezzlement of especially large amounts), Article 309, Part 1 (abuse of official powers), and Article 314, Part 1 (official forgery). Karen Torosyan is charged under Article 38-179, Part 3, Clause 1 (misappropriation or embezzlement of especially large amounts).

According to the indictment, Armen Grigoryan, with the assistance of his deputy, misappropriated more than 17 million AMD through embezzlement and committed official forgery, causing damage exceeding 1 million AMD to the municipality of Yerevan due to the abuse of his official powers.
