Billion-Year-Old Black Diamond Sold
A black diamond with a billion-year history, regarded as the world's largest polished diamond, has been sold for £3.16 million ($4.3 million). According to BBC News, the 555.55-carat stone, weighing approximately the same as a banana, was expected to sell for £4.4 million. Sotheby’s auction house announced that the buyer, whose identity has not been disclosed, has chosen to pay in cryptocurrency.
The diamond, named Enigma, has several intriguing theories about its origin, one of which suggests that it arrived on Earth following a planet collision with a stardust celestial body.
