Armenian NSS Summons Boris Avagyan's Retired Mother, Leaves Her in Tears
The National Security Service (NSS) of Armenia has summoned the retired mother of Boris Avagyan, causing the elderly woman to experience nervous tension and tears. This was reported by the colonel's wife, Elen Avagyan, to "Factinfo."
The media outlet inquired whether a summons had been received in the name of the colonel during this period and whether the wife had been summoned for questioning.
“Colonel Avagyan has not received a summons to appear for questioning. I have also not been summoned, but the NSS of Armenia has summoned Boris Avagyan's retired mother, causing her nervous tension and tears,” Elen Avagyan told "Factinfo."
When asked how they perceive the issued warrant for Avagyan, his wife noted, “My husband, Colonel Avagyan, thanks the law enforcement agencies of Armenia for finally stopping their denial that he is wanted, which has misled the public.”
Elen Avagyan also confirmed that a seizure has been placed on Boris Avagyan's property and bank accounts.
Before coming to the attention of the law enforcement agencies, B. Avagyan was actively involved in public activities. When asked if she believes the persecution of Avagyan is related to his active civic engagement, Elen answered, “Yes, Boris Avagyan’s persecution has been carried out by Pashinyan for speaking the truth about everything happening in Armenia, for which he was dismissed from his job after his speech in the National Assembly (During the parliamentary discussion, B. Avagyan deemed unacceptable the statements made by certain representatives of the government regarding prisoners and missing servicemen, stating that they harm the efforts to locate and return them, after which he was dismissed from his position as a special representative of the President of Artsakh on these issues).”
“Boris Avagyan’s active civic engagement is related to the pain he has experienced since the end of the Second Karabakh War and after Pashinyan’s signing of the capitulation,” his wife stated.
At the end of 2021, B. Avagyan was arrested in Russia, and "Factinfo" was interested in what charges he faces in Russia and if he has a lawyer. In response, Elen conveyed that in Russia, Boris Avagyan was fighting against the espionage groups of the Turkish special services, which has been widely reported by the Russian media, and that Russian law enforcement agencies are demanding explanations from Boris Avagyan regarding these facts. “He is being held in a special zone to ensure his safety and health,” his wife stated.
