Why Are the COVID-19 Death Figures from the NSS and 'Armed' Different?
The National Statistics Service (NSS) of Armenia has summarized the COVID-19 related deaths recorded in 2021, which have been completely compared with the death data registered in the 'Armed' system, according to the Ministry of Health.
In the 'Armed' system, a total of 5,380 death records of Armenian citizens were generated for the year 2021, whereas the COVID-19 deaths reflected in the NSS amounted to 5,450. The figure published by the NSS also includes deaths of Armenian citizens who died from COVID-19 in other countries, and were recorded by the civil registration agency of the Ministry of Justice, which cannot be reflected in the 'Armed' balance.
Therefore, the numerical difference between the 'Armed' system and the NSS represents the deaths recorded abroad.
