VIDEO: Sanctions for Negligent Treatment of the Flag Should Be Toughened – Ohanyan

The attitude towards our national flag should be considered within the context of state symbols, as the public's perception of these symbols greatly depends on state institutions. Seyran Ohanyan, the head of the 'Armenia' parliamentary faction, stated this during the discussion of a legislative initiative expanding the usage of the national flag, authored by MP Aghvan Vardanyan.

According to Ohanyan, it is crucial for public servants to guide the public's attitude towards symbols through their own example. 'If we compare it from a military perspective, battle flags are symbols of honor, valor, and glory, and even the loss of a battle flag leads to the dissolution of military units,' he remarked.

Ohanyan also emphasized that the sanctions for negligent treatment of the flag should be toughened. He announced that the 'Armenia' faction will vote in favor of the draft law.
