The Statement of Sisak Gabrielyan is a Lie and Defamation, Says Opposition MP

Sisak Gabrielyan displayed demagogic and non-state thinking today when he accused me and the opposition in general of putting forward legislative initiatives and making proposals. This was stated by Lilit Galstyan, an opposition MP from the ‘Armenia’ faction, in a conversation with NEWS.am.

“It is our legislative right; we decide what proposal to make regarding any law and how to vote for it. Those ‘backpacks,’ who have been sitting in parliament for more than three years without saying a word, is their salary justified? And when we have made a proposal regarding any bill, and our main concerns have not been addressed, and we state that we will vote against it, does this mean wasting state resources? And the author of this thought is someone with a legal education. Perhaps he has taken special courses in hypocrisy to mislead and accuse someone whose initiative has organized hearings on this bill. I am interested in ensuring that we have proper legislation in the education system, but I am against subjecting schools to shocks. Moreover, this bill proposes a dual management model for public education, a mechanically imposed management model that has not undergone testing. My concern has been about this. This is their characteristic labeling, hate speech directed at us,” said Lilit Galstyan.

According to the opposition MP, the bill presented by the government was flawed and they wanted to ‘squeeze it in’ within 24 hours, while she halted that process and initiated public hearings.

It is worth mentioning that this refers to the bill on making amendments and additions to the Law on Public Education, which was discussed in the second reading in parliament today and presented by the government. In response to Lilit Galstyan’s speech during the discussion, Sisak Gabrielyan stated that she was meaninglessly wasting state money and also noted that Galstyan had left one of the discussions of the parliamentary Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Diaspora, Youth and Sports.

“You have submitted more than ten proposals, but then you come and say that you are against the bill; what are you doing? It is incomprehensible. If you thought that this bill is authoritarian, you should have made a proposal regarding it, a discussion would have commenced, and not state during the meeting that this is sloppiness and leave in the middle of the session. If you are against it, why were you wasting paper and ink, receiving a salary? Don’t make proposals in that case, just state that you are against it,” said Sisak Gabrielyan.
