Police Conducts Operation "Forbidden Bread Will Not Be Consumed": Thieves Caught During Escape

Days ago, the police of the Vayots Dzor regional department, under the leadership of Chief Alik Hakobyan, along with the criminal investigation division of the Yeghegnadzor police department, conducted the operation "Forbidden bread, particularly in Hrazdan, will not be consumed."

According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, operational information had been received at the Yeghegnadzor police department indicating that a 30-year-old resident of Vayots Dzor, named Frunze B., a 38-year-old resident of Yerevan named Edgar G., and another individual had organized and committed apartment burglaries in Yeghegnadzor city.

For several days, substantial operational work was carried out by police in the regional and local police departments. On February 4, information was received that two of the mentioned individuals had exited the building's first entrance at 9A Arsenyan Street in Yeghegnadzor and entered a parked Porsche Cayenne nearby, heading towards Andranik Street. On that street, near the Finca UVC branch in Yeghegnadzor, police officers attempted to stop the Porsche Cayenne, but the driver ignored their legal order to pull over and sped away, attempting to escape.

Confident in their operational information, the police pursued them; however, some time later, the Porsche Cayenne disappeared from their sight. They continued forward and eventually found the vehicle, which had been in an accident, in an area known as Ivan's crossroads. The two passengers, upon seeing the police officers, tried to escape.

The driver exited the vehicle and dropped suspicious packages on the ground. Police tracked their locations, discovered them, and took them into custody. The driver was identified as 32-year-old Karapet N. from Yerevan.

A criminal case has been initiated at the Vayots Dzor regional investigative department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia, and the individuals have been transferred from Yeghegnadzor police to the investigative department. The police are taking necessary measures to locate the victims of their actions. Various types of gold jewelry have also been found, which, according to preliminary information, were stolen by these individuals from various apartments.
