Black Ice, Closed Roads: Situation in Armenia

The Ministry of Emergency Situations reports that there are closed roads within the territory of Armenia. The roads from the ‘Amberd’ high mountain weather station in the Aragatsotn region to Amberd Fortress and Kar Lake are closed.

The Vardenyats Mountain Pass is closed for all types of vehicles. In the Syunik region, there is black ice on the roads in some areas.

According to information received from the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs Emergency Situations Department and the Russian Federation’s Ministry of Emergency Situations North Ossetia Crisis Management Center, the Stepantsminda-Lars road is closed for heavy trucks. Drivers are advised to use only winter tires.
