Will a Criminal Case Be Opened Against Armen Ashotyann for Insulting Pashinyan?

On February 4, 2022, the Criminal Police Department of the Republic of Armenia received a video copy of an interview with the Vice-President of the Republican Party of Armenia, Armen Ashotyann, which was published on the Hayeli.am news website on January 25. This was reported by Aravot.am, citing its sources.

The video of the interview is currently under examination, and it will soon be determined whether there are grounds for opening a criminal case based on Armen Ashotyann's statements.

In response to a question from Aravot.am regarding this matter, Armen Ashotyann stated that he is unaware of any proceedings, has not received any documents from the police, and therefore will not provide any comments.

It is noteworthy that during the press conference on that day, among other statements, Armen Ashotyann referred to Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan as a "geopolitical petanque."
