You Aren't the Ones Who Should Count Our Army: Zakharova's Stern Response to NATO
The North Atlantic alliance has been deploying military equipment and troops near Russia's borders for decades; it is not NATO that should be counting the number of Russian troops or their movements within Russia's sovereign territory. They are at home. This was stated by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, as reported by TASS.
Commenting on accusations from the West regarding alleged troop buildup by Russia near the Ukrainian border, the diplomat reminded that NATO troops have been stationed near Russia's borders for decades.
“The military equipment, the troops, the armed forces, they belong to NATO countries, the organization that has declared us as an adversary, not a partner, as a country with which it is not about equal competition but entirely different methods,” Zakharova emphasized.
Moreover, according to her, alliance members are imposing sanctions and political pressure on Russia, as well as interfering in the country’s sovereign affairs.
“You do not represent the Anglo-Saxon world; you should count how much army we have, where our armed forces are located, and where they are moving. Where they are supposed to be, that’s where they are; they are at home,” Zakharova concluded.
