Russia and China Oppose Further NATO Expansion
Russia and China have built a "new type of relationship" that surpasses the military-political alliances of the "Cold War" era. This is stated in a joint statement by Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping, issued during Putin's visit to Beijing, according to TASS.
Moscow and Beijing are deeply concerned about the existing challenges in international security and are confident that no state can and should ensure its security at the expense of others.
Russia and China are against further NATO expansion and are calling on the alliance to abandon "Cold War" approaches. Beijing "understands and supports" Russia's proposals for the formation of long-term security guarantees in Europe.
Moscow and Beijing urge Washington to abandon plans to deploy medium and short-range ground missiles in Europe and the Asia-Pacific region, and to strengthen coordination on this issue, the statement said.
