Possible Fluctuations in Paracetamol Demand and Supply: Ministry of Health on Potential Shortage

The Ministry of Health has announced that due to the coronavirus situation, as well as influenza and acute respiratory infections, paracetamol-containing medications are widely used worldwide, including in Armenia. There may be short-term fluctuations in the demand and supply of certain first-line medications, which are quickly corrected.

Nevertheless, over the past two months, the Ministry of Health has issued import permits for a total of 437,714 boxes (4,496,488 tablets) of various medications containing 500 mg of paracetamol. The customs clearance process for 127,300 boxes (1,273,000 tablets) of paracetamol-containing medications will be completed soon, and the pharmaceutical company 'Arpimed' will release another 500,000 tablets of paracetamol.

Additionally, paracetamol received through humanitarian aid has been allocated to medical institutions in Yerevan and the provinces, with 21,240 tablets of 325 mg and 197,284 tablets of 500 mg provided.

In such situations, combinations of paracetamol available in pharmacies and equivalent medications may be used after consulting a doctor or pharmacist.
