No Replacement Found for Melikset Poghosyan: 'Hraparak'

'Hraparak' newspaper reports that a suitable replacement for Syunik governor Melikset Poghosyan has not been found, which is the reason for the delay in his dismissal. Although it was planned to dismiss governors who failed the local government elections, and Poghosyan was supposed to be among the first, the governors of Ararat and Aragatsotn regions were dismissed at the beginning of the year, while Poghosyan continues to work.

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan wants to replace Poghosyan with someone capable of holding the region firmly, but has not found such a person. The candidacy of Karen Hambartsumyan, a member of parliament from the ruling party, has been discussed, but, as we have been informed, he is not accepted in the region even by a 'camp shift'. Notably, on November 16 of last year, the day of the Azerbaijani provocation in Sisian, Hambartsumyan organized a large celebration. When the mayor of Sisian, Karen Hakobjanian, was informed about the enemy's attack, he replied that he would come to the city later as he was attending MP Hambartsumyan's birthday celebration.
