Deputy Prime Minister Elected Chairman of Brusov University Board
The Deputy Prime Minister of Armenia, Hambardzum Matevosyan, has been elected as the chairman of the Board of the V. Brusov State University. The information was shared by Matevosyan on his Facebook page.
“I thank the members of the Board for trusting me with this high position,” he wrote. He assured that the university will not engage in politics.
“I am the first guarantor that the university's operations will be non-political,” he emphasized.
It is noteworthy that the Minister of Defense, Suren Papikyan, was elected as the chairman of the Yerevan State University Board on November 6, 2020, while he was still serving as Deputy Prime Minister. Additionally, the Deputy Minister of Education and Science, Zhanna Andreasyan, was elected as the chairman of the Board of the Armenian State Pedagogical University on November 7, 2021.
Earlier, during a year-end press conference, Minister of Education and Science, Varham Dumbadze, addressed the significant public outcry regarding the election of the chairman of the Yerevan State University Board, stating that Papikyan was elected to ensure that the university does not have to transfer large sums of money to politicized foundations from its modest resources.
