Arthur Grigoryan's Cause of Death Was Cancer

Renowned composer and People's Artist of Armenia, Arthur Grigoryan, has passed away today, February 4, due to a serious illness. The composer was 63 years old. In recent days, he had been hospitalized and in critical condition. The cause of death was throat cancer.

After a prolonged illness, the composer, songwriter, and People's Artist of Armenia, Arthur Grigoryan, has left this world. The information was confirmed in an interview with Armen Press by Armen Sargsyan, director of the State Song Theater.

In 1992, he was appointed president of the Armenian National Philharmonic Agency and led the Armenian State Jazz Orchestra until 1994. Since 1994, he founded the State Song Theater of Armenia, where he serves as artistic director. He was the director of the Youth Palace of Yerevan from 1995 to 1998. Since 2001, he was a member of the Board of the Public Radio and Television Company of Armenia and became an advisor in 2009.

He authored the awards "Yes," "777," "Asup," "Gifts," co-produced television shows such as "Just Like That" and "See," as well as projects like "Green Zone" and "Voices of Artsakh." He also hosted the annual author-performer awards under the Zakyan Foundation's patronage. Grigoryan initiated and headed the Estrada Course at the Yerevan State Institute of Theater and Cinema.

He composed numerous songs, children's musicals, mass events, festivals, thematic, and estrada concerts.
