VIDEO: Pashinyan Joked During Government Session
There is significant progress in democracy in Armenia, and it is important that this is not only recognized in Armenia but also noted by the international community. Today, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated during a routine government session, mentioning that an unprecedented resolution has been adopted by the PACE, which acknowledges substantial progress in democratic reforms in Armenia.
Pashinyan pointed out that not only representatives of the ruling party but also those of opposition forces are winning in local elections. The Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures, Gnel Sanosyan, presented the funding of communities that the government is implementing and how much the government's funding amounts to in these programs.
After Sanosyan's enumeration, Pashinyan said, “If you continue like this, I will see an intra-government conspiracy here because the more we finance the communities, the more actively they demand the government's resignation; it is in vain that you raise your voices.”
Sanosyan responded, “Regardless of which force's representative is the head of the community, all are our residents, all of their problems are ours, and we have not politicized solving community issues.”
Pashinyan added, “Jokes aside, but the heads of communities representing our party complain that we are looking at them worse,” he noted, emphasizing that there is no bias in this case.
