Armenia Must Live in Peace with Its Neighbors: Vahagn Khachaturyan
The presidential candidate nominated by the ruling Civil Contract party, Vahagn Khachaturyan, has stated that Armenia must live in peace with its neighboring countries. He made these comments during a broadcast on Public Television.
"I cannot imagine that one can argue or fight with neighbors. I believe that one should only live in peace with neighbors," he said.
Khachaturyan also referred to the opposition’s statements about the need for a "coercion of peace" in Armenia as an "outdated thesis." He remarked, "The citizens of Armenia should understand that the only way to develop and lead a life is through peace. As for coercion, no one will achieve it through coercive means," the candidate stated.
He expressed a positive view regarding the recent developments in Armenian-Turkish relations. However, he also asserted that he does not believe that the Armenian authorities have met Ankara's preconditions in this process.
"I do not believe, and I am confident that there are no preconditions," he emphasized. It is worth noting that Vahagn Khachaturyan's candidacy for the position of President of Armenia has been announced earlier.
