Video: Injuries Reported in Major Fire in Yerevan
A significant incident occurred in Yerevan earlier today. At approximately 11:45 AM, the emergency situations rescue service received a call reporting a vehicle ablaze in front of a gas station on Artsakh Avenue, with indications that the fire had spread to the gas station as well.
According to eyewitness reports from photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, while firefighters were on their way, the gas station employees attempted to contain and extinguish the fire themselves, but it spread quickly, making the flames and smoke visible from a considerable distance.
Rapid response units from the Yerevan police patrol arrived on the scene, cordoning off the area to prevent curious drivers from parking their vehicles and causing traffic disruptions.
Nearby residents commented, “How can one not praise the firefighters? If they were five minutes late, the flames would have attacked the houses and neighboring buildings. The firefighters acted swiftly and judiciously; had they not intervened effectively, the fire would have spread to larger areas.”
Emergency medical personnel also arrived promptly, providing assistance to a gas station employee at the scene before transporting them to a hospital.
