Serbian Diplomat Arrested in ‘North-South’ Case Released in Serbia
Former deputy head of the North Macedonia mission at the OSCE, Mile Milenkovski, has been released in Serbia. This news was reported by the Telma television channel.
According to the media outlet, the former diplomat was released on Saturday, but the news only became public today. He spent 5 months in prison.
The Serbian appellate court granted Milenkovski’s appeal against the detention order, while simultaneously rejecting the extradition request presented by the Armenian authorities.
Earlier, it was reported that Serbian law enforcement agencies had arrested Mile Milenkovski based on international warrants initiated by the Armenian authorities. The arrest took place on August 27 when Milenkovski attempted to cross the “Presevo” border checkpoint to enter North Macedonia. However, the confirmation of this news by the North Macedonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs was only made on September 3.
Later, Gohar Abrahamyan, an advisor to the Armenian General Prosecutor’s Office, stated that the citizen of North Macedonia was arrested in connection with a criminal case related to the “North-South Road Corridor.” The citizen had facilitated the illegal transfer of another citizen from North Macedonia, who is also involved in the criminal case related to the “North-South Road Corridor.”
