It Turns Out a Fake Azerbaijani Hero Was Awarded in Turkey

Azerbaijani Rasim Ahmadlin, who was presented by the Mayor of Marmaris, Mehmet Oktay, as a "heroic Azerbaijani commander who displayed bravery during forest fires," has been found to be a common fraudster wanted for committing various crimes. It has been revealed that Ahmadlin works at a fast-food outlet. This was reported by Ermenihaber.am.

The incident at the Marmaris Municipality has been described by the Turkish press as resembling a real comedic film. It has emerged that the person whom the Marmaris Mayor, CHP member Mehmet Oktay, awarded as a "Heroic Azerbaijani Commander" for his contribution to firefighting efforts, is actually an Azerbaijani kebab vendor.

The Azerbaijani side has reported that the fake commander Rasim Ahmadlin is a wanted fraudster involved in numerous criminal cases.

The scandalous visit took place on December 31. Rasim Ahmadlin, who posed as the commander of the Azerbaijani team participating in the firefighting efforts in Marmaris, also met with Marmaris Mayor Mehmet Oktay. Present at the office visit, where Ahmadlin arrived in military uniform with a rank of colonel, were many representatives from the press.

After exchanging mutual compliments, a ceremony for the handing over of gifts and commemorative plaques took place. The visit was widely covered by the Turkish press on the same day. However, just a week after the visit, it was revealed that there is no military uniform in Azerbaijan that matches the one Ahmadlin wore at the meeting.

Azerbaijani media, which followed the incident, disclosed that Ahmadlin had fled Azerbaijan and was engaged in "kebab making" in Turkey. Following the scandal, the Marmaris Municipality deleted the posts regarding the aforementioned ceremony honoring the fake hero from its social media pages.
