Change Made to the Passport Issuance Procedure for Citizens of Artsakh
Changes have been made to the passport issuance procedure for citizens of Artsakh. This was reported by the police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Artsakh.
According to the changes made to the decision No. N-821 of the Government of the Republic of Armenia dated December 25, 1998, regarding the regulations of the passport system of the Republic of Armenia and the description of the passport of the citizen of the Republic of Armenia, a new decision was adopted by the Government of Armenia on December 30, 2021, which came into effect on January 14, 2022.
According to the decision, passports are issued for a validity period of 10 years to citizens holding an identity card of the Republic of Armenia or who have submitted an application for obtaining one. For citizens who do not possess an identity card, the passport is issued for a validity period of 2 years.
Moreover, male citizens aged 16 years or older who are in pre-conscription age are issued passports until they reach conscription age, and in case they reach conscription age, the passport is issued for the duration of the deferment received from military service conscription or the period of re-examination.
