Change in the Procedure for Issuing Passports to Artsakh Citizens

The Government of the Republic of Armenia has made changes to the Resolution No. 821 dated December 25, 1998, regarding the "Regulation of the Passport System of the Republic of Armenia and the Description of the Republic of Armenia Citizen's Passport." According to the new decision adopted on December 30, 2021, which came into force on January 14, 2022, it was announced by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Artsakh.

According to the decision, citizens holding a Republic of Armenia identity card (ID) or those who have applied for an identity card will be issued a passport valid for 10 years. Citizens without an identity card will receive a passport with a validity of 2 years.

Moreover, male citizens who have reached the age of 16 and are in pre-conscription age will be given a passport until they reach their conscription age. In case they reach conscription age, the passport will be issued for the duration of the deferment received from mandatory military service or until the expiration of the re-examination period.
