I Have Addressed President Putin and the Chief Prosecutor: Rector of the Armenian-Russian University

There is a certain concern in public and academic circles regarding the course of a criminal case ordered by certain forces in Russia. This was stated by Armen Darbinyan, the rector of the Armenian-Russian (Slavonic) University, on his Facebook page. He specifically mentioned:

“In this regard, I have the following to announce:

a) I will not disclose any details regarding the examination, still believing in the impartiality and sovereignty of the Armenian investigation.

b) I have conveyed the necessary evidence to the investigator regarding the ordered and fabricated nature of the case.

c) Of course, there is the option for the case to be suspended in order to keep a person under stress and manageable. Such tricks have been known since the time of the NKVD. I hope that the Armenian investigators will not go down that road and will terminate the case based on the absence of material evidence. In any case, I must mention that I have three governing axes: the sovereignty of my country (including my role as a co-founder of the university), my national and personal dignity, and my academic and civic freedom. There is no room for fear here.

d) I have formally addressed Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chief Prosecutor Igor Krasnov, demanding the cessation of the artificial and fabricated noise surrounding the university and calling for the accountability of arrogant officials. If necessary, these will be published.

e) The university operates in its natural rhythm, and moreover, with increased purposefulness.”
