Human Rights Defender Representatives Visit Police Regarding Detention of Individuals Protesting Against Insurance Premium Increases
In connection with the detention of participants protesting against the increase in compulsory insurance premiums at Republic Square, representatives of the Human Rights Defender of Armenia visited the police.
The Human Rights Defender's office reports that private conversations have been held with those detained, the grounds for their detention have been examined, and based on the results of the visits, necessary actions are being taken for individual cases.
Previously, we reported that drivers held a protest today at Republic Square, voicing their objections to the hike in insurance premiums. They drove around the square with their car horns honking. Police stopped them, detained five of the drivers, while the vehicles were removed by tow trucks.
