Marukyan on Rumors of His Presidential Appointment

“How many vacant positions have arisen where my name has been discussed: Human Rights Defender, after the revolution - Prosecutor General, now - President of Armenia,” said Edmon Marukyan, the leader of the Bright Armenia party, at the Yerablur Pantheon, addressing rumors regarding his name being circulated for the presidential position.

He added that he has not received any offer to hold the presidency: “As long as the powers of the President of Armenia are not suspended... I am confident that even the authorities have not discussed this issue.”

When asked if he would accept an offer if it were made, he replied, “It is ridiculous to discuss such questions.”
