If They Hadn't Interfered with Serge Sargsyan in 2008, This War Might Not Have Happened: Marukyan

In the Yerablur military pantheon, discussing Armenian-Turkish relations and in response to a question about whether he sees a threat from Azerbaijan and Turkey, the leader of the LHK, Edmon Marukyan, stated: "I see a threat in not regulating relations; that threat has already occurred. If they hadn't interfered with Serge Sargsyan's initiative in 2008 and that initiative had taken place, this war might not have happened... It is the lack of regulation of relations that is fraught with the prospect of new wars, new conflicts, and new casualties in the future."

In response to a comment that the President of Azerbaijan sees the regulation of relations in the context of territorial integrity and corridor logic, Marukyan responded: "The Azerbaijani leader sees a lot, so what? I also see that Artsakh is an established factor—with its president, flag, coat of arms, and army, and the security situation there is maintained through Russian peacekeepers. What the President of Azerbaijan says is his problem."
