Six Soldiers Injured in Tajikistan During Conflict: What's Happening?

Six soldiers from Tajikistan have been injured during a conflict at the border, reports Sputnik Tajikistan. The Tajik border guards were wounded during gunfire exchanged with Kyrgyzstan at the border.

It is noted that they have been transported to a central clinic in the city of Isfara. A barracks regime has been declared in the conflict zone. Security, army, and internal affairs forces have been dispatched there to de-escalate the situation.

The State National Security Committee of Kyrgyzstan has described the situation in the Kyrgyz-Tajik section of the state border as tense. Following negotiations between the border representatives of the two countries, the Tor-Khocho section of the Batken-Isfara road was reopened for traffic at 19:30. However, a few minutes later, the situation worsened when the Tajik side opened fire on Kyrgyz border units in the Chir-Dobo area of the Batken region.

The main exchanges of gunfire between the border forces of the two countries are taking place in the Tor-Khocho and Chir-Dobo areas. The Tajik side is reportedly using mortars and grenade launchers, according to the agency, as reported by 24.kg.

Local residents of the villages nearest to the conflict site are fleeing their homes, locals have reported. They stated that gunfire continues in the Tor-Khocho area. “The shooting has not stopped. We are far from that place. It’s dark, and there are currently no reports of casualties. Everything happened suddenly. People have begun to evacuate the children and women,” residents stated.
