My Resignation Will Not Be an Obstacle: Armen Sarkissian's Letter to Infantino

The President of the Republic of Armenia, Armen Sarkissian, has sent a letter to FIFA (International Federation of Association Football) President Gianni Infantino, stating that his resignation from the presidency will not hinder the organization of the "Legends Game" in Armenia.

This information was reported by the Office of the President of Armenia. The opportunity to organize the "Legends Game"—a friendly match featuring former and current world-renowned legendary football players—was discussed by President Armen Sarkissian with Gianni Infantino during their meeting in Qatar at the end of last year.

Following that meeting, the President sent Infantino a letter of thanks, highlighting Armenia's significant interest in collaboration with FIFA and FIFA's Foundation, which promises to open new prospects for cooperation through football.

After submitting his resignation, President Sarkissian wrote another letter to the FIFA President: "My decision will not prevent me from continuing to contribute to the successful implementation of the initiatives I launched during my presidency. My life’s mission is to work for the prosperity of Armenia, and that does not end with a position. I would be pleased to continue our friendship and cooperation personally with you and FIFA. I am committed to contributing to the planned 'Legends Game' match in Yerevan," Sarkissian wrote.

He believes that this initiative will have a significant impact on the development of sports in Armenia. Sarkissian proposed to hold the 'Legends Game' in Armenia this year, coinciding with the 'Armenian Summit of Minds' and the 'STARMUS-6' festival.
