There isn’t much time left. In a few weeks, the Omicron wave of the coronavirus will retreat. This was reported by НТВ, citing virologist Pyotr Chumakov.

“Omicron is more acute, meaning it develops quickly and retreats just as fast. This conclusion can be drawn based on the trajectory of cases in the USA, the UK, and Europe. In Russia, the wave will start to decline in the second half of February,” said Pyotr Chumakov from the Russian Academy of Sciences.

According to the expert, the high transmissibility of Omicron will eventually work against it, as its rapid spread will lead to the quick formation of an immune layer that is necessary to reduce the incidence of infection.
