Gunfire Targeted at Red Market Following Azerbaijani Convoy Passage, Says Metaxé Hakobyan
The Azerbaijani side opened fire towards the village of Red Market as an Azerbaijani convoy passed through the area. The gunfire has since ceased. This was stated by Metaxé Hakobyan, a member of the Artsakh National Assembly, in an interview with ‘FactInfo’.
Hakobyan noted that while the enemy did not specifically target the village, they aimed to send a warning to the residents. “They have targeted the area surrounding the village. They fired as their convoy was passing. Last time, the youth of Red Market blocked the road while the Azerbaijani convoy was passing. Now, they have started firing in advance to warn them that if they block the road again, they will be targeted,” Metaxé Hakobyan pointed out.
She emphasized that the Azerbaijanis do whatever they want, however they want. Hakobyan observed that they seem to believe they have won, and are currently in such euphoria that they struggle to restrain themselves.
“The nomadic tribe now feels like a victorious nation. They disregard any international expectations. Recently, they claimed that school children were playing outside during recess, imagine the fear of those children. They are running again, rushing into shelters. These children are constantly in a state of war. This is a violation of international law. In other words, they are a direct threat to human life. That child can think every moment that they might be killed,” Hakobyan stated.
The Artsakh MP mentioned that a few days ago, when the residents of Red Market blocked the road to the Azerbaijani convoy, they did not act aggressively; they stood without weapons and simply expressed their demands, while the Azerbaijanis are now shooting, disregarding the fact that Russian peacekeepers are escorting their convoy.
“This must be talked about, continuously reiterated so that the international community is aware. Today, the Azerbaijanis fired until the convoy passed,” the MP emphasized.
