Husband Dismembers Wife with Ax: Investigative Committee Provides Details
The Investigative Committee of Armenia is conducting an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the brutal murder of a 69-year-old woman. According to preliminary data, a report was received on January 26, 2022, at 10:02 AM regarding a murder at one of the houses on Tigranian Street in Vanadzor.
An investigative-operational group was dispatched to the scene, where they discovered the dismembered body of a resident born in 1952 inside the apartment. Additionally, parts of the woman's legs, below the knees, were found in the yard, along with her clothing and a knife that resembled a blood-like liquid in a nearby trash can.
In connection with the incident, the Investigative Committee of Lori Province has initiated a criminal case under Article 104, Part 2, Point 5 of the Armenian Criminal Code.
On the same day, the husband of the deceased, born in 1945, was apprehended at the scene and has been interrogated as a suspect regarding the circumstances of the case.
During the pre-trial investigation, urgent investigative and procedural actions were taken, which included seizing the clothing worn by the suspect at the time of the incident, collecting samples, and appointing forensic, biological, genetic, and forensic examinations. Several witnesses have also been questioned.
The investigation is ongoing. Necessary measures are being implemented to ensure a comprehensive and objective inquiry, as well as to verify the circumstances highlighted in witness testimonies. Directives have been issued to the investigative body.
