Biden Compares Potential Russia-Ukraine Conflict to World War II: 'If Russia Attacks, It Will Change the World'

U.S. President Joe Biden stated that he would consider imposing personal sanctions against Russian President Vladimir Putin if Russia invades Ukraine. As noted by The Guardian, this announcement comes as Western leaders are ramping up military preparations, with NATO putting forces on heightened alert in response to the buildup of Russian troops near the Ukrainian border.

According to Biden, if Russia attacks, it will be the "largest invasion since World War II," which would "change the world." The president expressed that he would discuss adding direct sanctions against Putin to the list of measures being developed.

Recently, there have been increasing declarations in the West and Ukraine alleging a potential Russian "invasion" of Ukrainian territory. Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov dismissed such reports as empty and baseless tension escalation, emphasizing that Russia poses no danger to anyone. At the same time, he did not rule out the possibility of provocations to justify such statements and warned that attempts to resolve the issue militarily in southeastern Ukraine could have the most serious consequences.
