Turkey Ranked Among Corrupt Countries: Data
The international non-governmental organization "Transparency International" has published the Corruption Perception Index for 2021. According to the index, Turkey ranks 96th among 180 countries, as reported by Ermenihaber. Since 2012, Turkey has fallen 42 positions and has received its lowest rating in the last ten years.
Turkey shares this ranking with Argentina, Brazil, Indonesia, Serbia, and Lesotho. In the index published last year for 2020, Turkey was ranked 86th with 40 points among the same 180 countries. Thus, over the past year, Turkey has regressed by 10 positions.
According to the 2021 Corruption Perception Index, the countries with the least corruption include Denmark, Finland, New Zealand, Norway, Singapore, Sweden, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, and Germany.
The data shows that Turkey lags behind even countries that have ongoing economic, social, and political instability, and which have absolutely no relation to democracy. Turkey falls behind Burkina Faso by 17 positions, Trinidad and Tobago and East Timor by 14, India by 11, and Morocco by 9 positions.
It should be noted that according to the 2021 Corruption Perception Index published by "Transparency International", Armenia ranks 58th among 180 countries. As in the previous year, Armenia's result is higher than the global average of 43. Similar to last year, Armenia is ahead of its three neighbors except for Georgia: Turkey (38 points, 96th to 101st places), Azerbaijan (30 points, 128th to 135th places), and Iran (25 points, 150th to 153rd places). It is noted that Armenia is among the countries that have made significant progress over the past ten years.
