Erdogan Receives President of Turkish Armenian Foundations Union
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan today received Bedros Shirinyoghlu, the President of the Turkish Armenian Foundations Union. The meeting took place at the Cankaya Presidential Mansion.
The information was reported by the Turkish Presidential Office; however, details of the meeting have not been disclosed.
Today, Hüriyyet, citing closed discussions held on foreign policy within the Turkish presidential administration, reported that Ankara is planning to open flights to various regions of Armenia and expand commercial ties with Yerevan.
Diplomatic relations between Turkey and Armenia have been absent since 1993, when the border between the two countries was closed at Ankara's initiative.
