Severe Earthquake Strikes Southern Japan, Casualties Reported

A 6.3 magnitude earthquake has been recorded off the southwestern coast of Japan, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The epicenter of the natural disaster was located in Oita Prefecture, 24 kilometers away from the city of Saiki, which has a population of 73,000. The focus of the underground tremors was approximately 42 kilometers deep.

According to Kyodo News, four people have been reported injured as a result of the earthquake. Tremors were also felt in western and central Japan. There have been no reports of tsunami threats or significant damage.
