Representatives of the Armenian Community in Turkey Comment on Armenia-Turkey Relations

The Armenian Patriarch of Constantinople, Sahak Mashalyan, along with several representatives of the Armenian community in Turkey, have commented on the process of normalizing relations between Armenia and Turkey. This was reported by the Turkish news outlet hurriyet.com.tr, according to Armenpress.

“We must acknowledge that all steps that strengthen the relations of neighboring countries with deep histories are valuable, both in terms of investment and culture. It is extremely important for the Armenian community in Istanbul that relations improve day by day, so that both communities can recognize each other, work together, invest, and find a common language regarding cultural values,” said Mashalyan.

“The launch of flights has given me hope. Borders must be opened, and diplomatic relations must also be improved; this should be the first step. Relations should be expanded further,” remarked Edward Danzikyan, the editor-in-chief of the Agos newspaper, while addressing Armenia-Turkey relations.

Prof. Dr. Toros Aljanyan, a representative of minority foundations, regarding the topic stated, “I consider this a positive and overdue step. It is very meaningful that the language of friendship is returning. I hope peace will return. A new door of friendship will open without wars.”
