Price Reaches 50 Drams: Prices of Polyethylene Bags Change in Supermarkets
As is known, starting from January 1, 2022, the sale of polyethylene bags with a thickness of up to 50 microns is prohibited in trade establishments. However, in several supermarkets and shopping centers, not only are polyethylene bags still being provided, but their prices have also increased, reports Armdaily.
For example, in the "Yerevan City" supermarket chain, the price of polyethylene bags has risen from 15 drams to 45 drams. Meanwhile, in the "Sas" supermarket chain, the price has reached 50 drams. In contrast, in the "Nor Zovk" supermarket chain, the prices have remained unchanged. Some supermarkets have also removed polyethylene bags from their websites.
It is noteworthy that the Ministry of Environment has announced a fine of 30,000 drams for selling products in polyethylene bags. The state encourages the replacement of polyethylene bags with reusable packaging made from biodegradable materials or fabric.
