Mother and Son Embezzle Funds from Loans Taken in Citizens' Names

The investigation into a case of fraud resulting in significant property damage to approximately a dozen individuals has concluded within the Regional Investigative Department of Armavir, as reported by the Investigative Committee.

Through extensive pre-trial proceedings, including investigative and procedural actions, all circumstances of the incident, the mechanism of the embezzlement, and the scope of the victims have been established.

The investigation has revealed that a 27-year-old resident of the village of Voskehat in the Armavir region, in collaboration with his mother and, in some instances, acting independently, obtained the passport and bank card information of fellow villagers and acquaintances through deceit and abuse of trust. Without their knowledge, he arranged loans online, which he later cashed.

The young man's mother, alleging that her son living abroad had transferred money to the bank cards belonging to the mentioned individuals, requested the cards from them and subsequently cashed the transferred funds, thereby embezzling the money from the loans taken in the names of the citizens.

The investigation has established that the criminal activities of the mother and son resulted in a total damage of 7,173,429 Armenian Drams to the citizens.

Based on the collected sufficient evidence, charges have been brought against the 27-year-old under part 2 of Article 184 of the Criminal Code of Armenia (6 episodes) and part 1 of Article 184 (3 episodes), while his mother was charged under part 2 of Article 184 (6 episodes). As a preventive measure, they have been placed under the signature of not leaving the country.

The pre-trial investigation has concluded, and the criminal case with an accusatory conclusion has been sent to court.
